Connect WhatsApp

Let your Sutando send WhatsApp messages, read your chats, and search past conversations. There is no token and no developer account: your Mac becomes a linked device on your WhatsApp account, like WhatsApp Web.

The link runs through wacli, a local tool on your Mac. The session is stored on your Mac in ~/.wacli/ and stays signed in until you remove the linked device from your phone.

Before you start

  • WhatsApp installed and active on your phone.
  • S.space signed in, with a Sutando attached.
  • wacli on your Mac. If it is missing, or too old, pairing stops with the install command: brew install openclaw/tap/wacli. Run it in Terminal or ask your Sutando to.

Pair WhatsApp

Click your name, pick Agent, choose Connections under Agents, and scroll to Agent-Paired Channels. The WhatsApp card pairs through your agent.

  • With a phone number (recommended): enter it in Phone number (optional) with your country code and click Connect. The card shows a code under Type this under WhatsApp → Linked devices → Link with phone number. Type it on your phone there.
  • Without a number: click Connect and the card shows a QR under Scan from WhatsApp → Linked devices (codes rotate — newest wins). Scan it from Linked devices → Link a device. You can't scan a QR on the same phone that shows it, so use the number when you're on your phone.

Connect sends one message to your DM with your Sutando: Connect WhatsApp. My number is ‹number› — use phone-number pairing and send me the pairing code here., or Connect WhatsApp. Guide me through pairing here. without a number. The code or QR appears on the card when your agent replies, and the card shows Connected once pairing succeeds.

You can send the same message yourself from any DM with your Sutando, including on the web or your phone.

The card says No agent DM found — attach an agent first (Settings → Agent).? You don't have a Sutando attached yet. Add one first, then come back.

Try it

By voice or text:

  • "What's the last message Jane sent me on WhatsApp?"
  • "Send Bob on WhatsApp: running 10 min late, sorry."
  • "Search WhatsApp for the address Mom sent me."

Your Sutando confirms the recipient and the exact text before sending. Numbers use international format with the + country code. It can't send a message to yourself. "Sent" means WhatsApp's servers got it, not that it was read.

Common snags

  • "Not authenticated." Pairing never finished. Click Connect again.
  • "Linked device revoked." You removed the device on your phone. Pair again.
  • "Rate limited." WhatsApp is throttling; your Sutando waits about 30 seconds and retries.
  • "this wacli build lacks …" Your wacli is too old. Upgrade with brew install openclaw/tap/wacli.
  • Your account uses a passkey. Pairing by phone number doesn't work. Pair once with the QR instead, scanning it from your phone while the QR shows on this Mac.
